A friend of mine is deathly afraid of flying and thinks she could make the Bonaire trip with a direct flight from Atlanta. Does anyone know of any options.

Air Jamaica flies from Atlanta, but stops in Montego Bay and changes planes. Only non-stops are Continental from Houston and Newark.

No, but Delta will start non-stop to Curacao beginning mid-December, according to the Bonaire Reporter. then you just take Divi Divi for the short hop over.
