What is the best place in US (cheapest) to depart from if going to BONAIR? Also is it cheaper to go to somewhere close and get a boat/plane hop?

thanks terry

Terry

There is no 'cheap' way to go, except maybe Freq. flyer Miles on AA into Bon or Cur or any other airline that might be flying from the USA to Cur.

From Cur you have the option of Divi Divi (a favorite of many of this site) or Bonaire Excel/express - which is floundering. BE is the only way from Aruba to get to Bon at this time.
Also look at AJ. But they are in financial trouble too.

Hope this helps. Just read this board extensively. BTW, there is no boat/ferry service at this time. I know if sounds unappealing, but when you get to the island, all will be well.

the american airline flight from miami is pretty good, connects in san juan, 2 aft flights leave at 1:10 and 2:10 get tob bonaire about 8:00 so if you can make it to miami by noon, these are worth looking at would tell you the price of our tickets but someone will post that they got the same tickets for hundreds less and make me feel bad

Depending on your departure city, a charter flight to Aruba and an add-on BonairExpress flight to BON can be a good deal. There are many, many charter flights to Aruba from a variety of U.S. cities, especially during winter months. Prices can fluctuate pretty dramatically, based on passenger demand. This last February, we purchased RT charter tickets between Aruba and Minneapolis for $299 -- and then flew BE to Bonaire. These tickets were about $200 cheaper than using a scheduled carrier (AA) through San Juan, which was really our only other option. You take a risk with BE, as many on these boards have posted, but it worked for us.

Priceline.com is really good, too. It may save you about $150 off the published fare.

Been looking and still can't find a very cheap way to get there. Everything I can find from the midwest totals to about $1000 PER ticket for the two of us. Everyone say it is worth it but seems like a lot for a flight but it seems that most flights have increased in cost for what I am use too.
thanks for all past and future wisdom.
