An article in the Houston Chronicle this morning, citing a restructuring of the carrier's operations. We will have to find another route.

Andy&Dave, AA Houston to Curacao about the same time, but the air is $200 more than we paid with AJ, plus from CUR to BON.

Hi
At this time it seems like Delta has an early early IAH flight through ATL that gets to MBJ a little after 10 AM. That should get you on the Bonaire flight.

Those interested in flying AA from Texas:
If you look and maybe adjust your dates a little you can fly out of Dallas (DFW)thru San Juan then Bonaire in one day (1 stop) or DFW Thru Miami then San Juan and Bonaire (2 stops). This is probably the route we will use both routes get you to Bonaire about 8pm. Right now the DFW/MIA/SJU/BON route is running around $690 and the DFW/SJU/BON route is around $850. AA also has routes thru Fort Lauderdale. We are almost as close to Dallas as we are to Houston so it is not a big deal for us. Hope this helped some of you Texans out.

Air Jamaica Suspends Service to Houston

Feb 4, 2005
Travel Agent

Air Jamaica will suspend service to/from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) effective April 3, 2005. Passengers currently holding reservations into and out of Houston following the suspension of service on April 3 are being contacted by Air Jamaica representatives who are assisting them in re-accommodating their air travel needs. Executive Vice President Operations & Planning, John Lewis, says the suspension of Air Jamaica's Houston service is part of the carrier's ongoing restructuring program. Launched in December 2004, Air Jamaica's restructuring program is designed to improve efficiency and reduce annual operating costs by US$50 million. (MR)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on how to get to Bonaire (without having to layover days somewhere and take out a 2nd mortgage for the plane fare).

Gary,

AA from Houston-Miami-Curacao looks quite do-able, and not as expensive as I would have thought. Who would you recommend from CUR-BON, (Divi Divi ?) and how much would you expect to pay each way between CUR-BON and back ?

Thanks for feedback.

Steve Check AA leaving from Dallas DFW airport. There are days you can fly into Bonaire. Some flights with 1 stop and some with 2 stops. We are going in April DFW/San Juan/Bonaire all in one day.

Andrea & Dave,

Thanks for the feedback, but for the dates that I am travelling in June, all flights going from DFW to Bonaire show up as having long layovers and lasting 50+ hours overall. They are also $200 higher than the Houston-Miami-Curacao route. Even adding the extra for the "puddle-jumper" each way, the Houston option is cheaper. On top of this, I am 5 hours from DFW and 2 1/2 hours from IAH. Also, I wouldn't mind doing the Houston-Curacao version and spend a day or two in Curacao as well.

p.s. I saw where Air Jamaica had a dozen or so flights grounded today. Seems they are digging themselves deeper into rather than out of the hole they are in.

Thanks again,
Steve Holcomb

The long layovers are because American Eagle doesn't fly from SJU to BON every day. If you can adjust your accomodations, you can do DFW-SJU-BON in one day going and coming. You also do DFW-MIA-SJU-BON in one day, but you have to chose days when the SJU-BON leg is available.

I also do DFW-MIA-CUR-BON when the DFW-SJU-BON route is not available - leaves DFW at 6am and gets into Bonaire about 5:30pm (using Divi Divi for the CUR-BON leg) (or 6:30pm using BonairExel scheduled service).
