Does anyone know the status of the dive dock/dive shed at Divi? I know it was washed out by the hurricane but wondered if they have it back in operation yet? T-Shirt diver Sue... you out there anywhere?? I know you were there earlier this month..

I stayed next door (Carib Inn). As of Oct 13 (the date I left), the Divi dock closest to the Carib Inn was working. There are stairs at the end of that dock that go into the water and there were tanks sitting on the dock. Divi Boats also appeared to be departing from that dock.

Kelly, the north pier was gone, as far as I recall from earlier postings, they are waiting for a rebuild permit. The southern pier was in use for the dive boats. You might want to do a keyword search for Divi pier.

Thanks, I was just curious... the last time I was there (at Divi) our dive group used the south dock as our "main dock". It was closest to our rooms, so it was very convenient. It was also a FABULOUS night dive, under that pier. Lots of orange cup coral.. my favorite.. I'm glad that they have one dock in working order !

But I loved that dive dock and shed! It had a lot of character. And, of course, that dock was the most convenient for the timeshare units. Sure hope they replace the shed with something similar. We always left our gear in it (well, not the computers)and never had a problem. In fact, one time my husband left his camera in the dunk tank on the dock and didn't realize it until the following morning. We raced down there, looked in and no camera! Then someone getting off the dive boat said another diver had recognized it and took it. We went back to our room and discovered the camera tucked under the chaise lounge chair with a towel draped over it. Happy Day!! The Divi attracts some great folks.

In the beginning of Oct. we used the So. dock which was still being worked on. There are plans for the north dock which include nice big lockers for divers' equipment. Just have to remenber to bring a lock for the locker. Many people were diving off the timeshare tanning pier. There is a ladder there which makes it easier to exit. Tanks were set up on the new dive deck to make things easy. Sue

And I wonder what became of the redlip blenny that lived on the steps of the north dive dock. He'd been hanging out there for years and I always looked forward to seeing little guy.

Linda, I felt the same way about that cute little dive hut....I have all kinds of pics of that adorable structure! Reminded me of a small New England fishing village or something out of "Jaws"...but in a kinder way. I'll miss that little hut....sniffle. Carole

we are all going to miss that little shed and luckily this past year I took a picture of the happy bone fishermen standing in front of the Shack and I have had it framed.
