Let me make this perfectly clear: I do not watch soap operas. But once in a while I come around the corner of our living room when my wife is watching hers and I get a glimpse of the TV screen with the same characters and the same conversations... week after week after week.

Well, I just came around the corner of my life and caught a glimpse of Bonaire Talk after a year and half absence, and guess what: the same players, more or less, with a few new names sprinkled in, the same conversations, more or less, about petty theft, best places to eat, American vs. Jamaican Airlines... I guess there is something to be said about consistency.

Well, here I am. Where am I going? Where have I been? What have I been doing... as if you really cared, right? Well, I tell you anyway. In a nutshell: I have retired from my college teaching job of 30 years, drive limousines and hearses for a local funeral home in my spare time, and organize and escort dive trips for a local dive shop.

At the ripe old age of 62, got my Dive Master certification in Utila this summer (interned for a month at the Utila Dive Centre) and have escorted two dive tours, one to Roatan last February (13 divers, three in whell chairs) and one to Cozumel at the end of November (10 divers). Am off to Belize with a group in March and am coming to Bonaire next November.

Am having a blast: life begins after retirement.(It says 02:55 on my topic line, but it's really only 23:55 where I live, but do I care? I don't have to go to work tomorrow. Ha, ha.)

Have added a new picture to my profile. Go and have a look... as handsome as ever. Some of you may remember me. So, tell me what's new.

It's kind of good to be back, I think...

Karl

Dang it Karl! Why do YOU have to show up now, just when things were going so well for Dirk and Tweeny? Couldn't you just stay in whatever hole you crawled into after you ruined everyone's life in Springville??

Oh wait, this is BT, not a soap opera. Oops! Welcome back Karl. Nice profile pic.

Thanks Freddie and Seb for your welcome-back. Remembering my birthday yet, Freddie. Goddess, you are! Yeah, you are right. Must be all the laughing we do that keeps us immortal, almost. Well, working in a funeral home, as I do, I should know better. And Seb, former soap opera worker, uh? That explains a lot. You haven't changed a bit.

Karl, welcome back to the asylum. It's pretty much the same here as before (like you said), but I toss that into the good category. I've always had a deep fear that BT would go away one day.
