I am going to Bonaire for the first time in February and am wondering how cool it gets. What should I pack in the way of a sweatshirt/pants? I'm from Iowa so keep in mind how the Floridians were amazed at our attire at the Orange Bowl. thanks, Joan

the temp stays over 70 degrees (F) and the attire is very informal...khaki shorts and short sleeve seersucker shirts are nice...maybe throw in a long sleeve chambry shirt to wear open for a little extra in the evening...

And like every seasoned traveller says, pack half the clothes and twice the money. lol

Make sure you bring light long pants to wear in the evenings, if you are mosquito sensitive. And bring some repellent! The no see-ums are very active with people they love-like me!

The only place not super laid back is the Catholic Church in town. If you're planning on attending, you'll need something other than shorts and bathing suit. Would someone else like to comments on what's expected?

John is correct re church...long pants for men and dresses for women with covered arms. Otherwise, clothtes should be very casual. The only place I wear shoes is in town or at the governmnent offices for transacting business. Also, in town, bare chests for men are not appropriate and t shirts at least for ladies is the norm. Used to be the Casino at Plaza was a bit snooty re long pants and shoes..not at the Divi however...I dont know if that has changed.

Bring lots of T shirt and shorts. Unless you plan to do some laundry while in Bonaire.

Joan, FYI-there's a very reasonable laundry service on the island, who will do your clothes within a day or so. We've used them, because we stay longer than a week, and it saves on packing.

I used Caribbean Laundry Service for the first time this winter. It was 25,00 for two loads to wash and dry. I did it myself because I didn't want to mark up my clothes, some things I like to line dry and also heard they lose stuff...
