hi,
I am currently a Brazil citizen, and plan to move to Bonaire to open a business. I plan to stay in Bonaire long term and have hopes of attaining Netherlands citizenship. I read that there is a 3 year residency requirement and that I must be stateless.
My concern: How do I prove that I'm stateless?

Hello there, a question; with what kind of traveldocument you are going to travel to Bonaire, which authority gave you that traveldocument and based upon what they gave you that document?

I think you should contact the Embassy of the Netherlands rather than ask for such important info from a news group. One question, how can a Brazilian citizen be stateless? I really suggest you do some serious homework before approaching our bureaucracy. Last person who claimed "political asylum" and being "a man without a country" was escorted to the airport and unceremoniously put on a plane to the US.

I basically agree with Michael on this one ... it sounds like you have gotten some really goofy information. I know that it is 5 years in some circumstances and 10 years in others, but I've never heard of a "statelessness" requirement. The Embassy is the best place to ask.

The IND decides whether you can come to the Netherlands/Antilles and whether you can become a Dutch citizen if you wish to do so.

http://www.ind.nl/en/verblijfwijzer/verblijfwijzer_mijnsituatie.asp?proc=komen&procedure=Op de Nederlandse Antillen en Aruba&land=&duur=1&intro=procedure&lang=

on this site you'll find also adresses/phonenumbers to get more information eg your stateless situation.
