Dear Fellow BTers, does anyone know if there is a limit to how much cash you are allowed to bring with you to the island? Does it make a difference if you are a tourist or resident? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks and best regards, Jack.

The limit on the amount of currency that a US citizen may take out of the country without paperwork is 10K. If the amount is in excess of that there is a form (?) available from customs. Bottom line, there is no limit on cash that can be taken out of the country. Go to the Deparment of Treasury website for an explanation.

Bonaie do not have a limit for cash, however, you may want to be sure it has been legally exported vai US laws since the islande is very sensitive to money laundering laws. As for your using a bank here, there are numerous forms, etc. that must be completed.
