Yep, we just got our temporary residency and we had to get the HIV and HEP B blood tests done!

Holy Smokes! We got ours less than a year ago, and no blood work was necessary....wow. I wonder what changed the requirements (and why?)Anybody have a clue what happened?

Interesting, I was wondering if the tests were for the nature of the business you (Liz and Ed) are going into which is "hotel and food". All workers for those jobs regardless of actual food contact have to have HEP tests, etc. Of course, you never know what requirements they may be enforcing now that they did not previously.

Hi Linda! We are not getting our HORECA (sp?) Licence as of now. They say it is a new thing on Bonaire. That is a good question though, but they do require the test.

Hi-we are not in the food and beverage world so that may be part, but not all of the reasoning.Agnes, the lady who is helping us with the paperwork, said it is a new requirement as of very recently-I'll bet it has more to do with cost-cutting any burden on the health care system-also, this is happening on other islands as well.

They have always required a letter of good health from your doctor but had not specified any particular aspect. It makes sense to check for certain contagious diseases especially ones that somebody (or even their doctor) might not be aware of like HIV. The US has had a similar requirement in place for potential immigrants for a long time.
